Avalanche Acquires Rocco Grimaldi From Florida

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired forward Rocco Grimaldi from the Florida Panthers in exchange for goaltender Reto Berra.

Grimaldi, 23, was Florida’s second-round pick (33rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 20 games for the Panthers this past season, tallying five points (3g/2a). The Anaheim, Calif., native also dressed in two playoff games during Florida’s first-round series against the Islanders (0g/0a). Grimaldi spent most of the year with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, where he notched 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 52 contests.
