Among 11 defensemen used by the Avalanche this season, Andrew Bodnarchuk is No. 10. He was picked up off waivers from Columbus on Jan. 5 and made his Colorado debut the next night against St. Louis.
Only rookie Chris Bigras, who made his NHL debut Jan. 14, has had a shorter time than Bodnarchuk in the Avs' carousel usage of defensemen.
"Every time I get in the lineup, I'm trying to make the most of the opportunity," said Bodnarchuk, 27.
Given that the Avs have only one long-term injury to a defenseman in Brad Stuart, they have used a large amount of blue-liners.
