Analysis: Ryan Graves has deepened the Avalanche’s already-stout defensive corps

Avalanche defensive prospect Ryan Graves grew up playing with and against Avs superstar center Nathan MacKinnon in Nova Scotia, Canada, and given how his preseason has gone with Colorado, Graves presumably has a good chance to play with MacKinnon in the NHL this season.

At some point.

Based on guaranteed contracts and lack of injuries to those players, Graves likely will begin the season with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League. Nevertheless, he has seemingly established himself among the Avs’ top-10 defensemen in what is considered the club’s deepest blue line in more than 10 years.
