This was going to be a story about all of the Avalanche’s United States-born players discussing the general election — the process, if not their choices.
Well, it kind of still is.
Except “all” is Erik Johnson.
“I’m the only American, yeah,” the Minnesota-born defenseman said after practice last week. “I was looking around the room after we put Ben Smith on waivers (Oct. 24), and it was just me. So the people paying attention to the elections the most were me, the equipment staff, the training staff and (assistant coach) Tim Army.”
The Avalanche’s roster is drawn from six nations — 13 players from Canada, four from Russia, two from Sweden, and one apiece from the U.
