An early onslaught by Troy was too much for Coastal Carolina to overcome Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Ala.
The Chanticleers fell behind 21-0 in the game’s opening 12 minutes before responding with a pair of touchdowns to cut the deficit to seven. But that was as close as they would get for the remainder of the game in a 45-21 defeat to one of the favorites in the Sun Belt Conference.
“They totally outplayed us in the second half,” Coastal head coach Joe Moglia told WRNN 99.5 FM following the game. “We made a lot of mistakes and hurt ourselves, and we’ve got to play a lot better than that.
