CLEVELAND -- The Indians' coaching staff is whole once again with the hiring Wednesday of assistant hitting coach Victor Rodriguez.
Rodriguez replaces Matt Quatraro, who left the organization last month to become the Rays' third-base coach. Previously, manager Terry Francona hired Carl Willis as his pitching coach after Mickey Callaway departed to become manager of the Mets.
Like Willis, Rodriguez comes to the Tribe from the Red Sox. The 56-year-old Rodriguez spent the past 23 seasons as a player and coach in Boston's system, including the past five seasons as assistant hitting coach with the big league club.
