For the third consecutive year, the Cleveland Indians will have a starter in the MLB All-Star Game. Carlos Santana has been named the American League’s starting first baseman, receiving 49.2 percent of the vote. The race was not close, as the Yankees’ Luke Voit finished second with 25.8 percent, followed by the Twins’ C.J. Cron with 25 percent.
This is Santana’s first trip to the All-Star Game in his career and he’ll do so as a representative of the host city, with Cleveland hosting the star-studded affair for the first time since 1997.
Returning to Cleveland after a single-season stint with the Phillies, Santana has made the most of his homecoming with a career year so far at the plate.
