Finalists for the 2017 Gold Glove Awards were announced yesterday, and among them were Cleveland Indians players Yan Gomes at catcher, Carlos Santana at first base, Jose Ramirez at third base, and Francisco Lindor at shortstop. Three of those shouldn’t be a surprise — until their legs fall off or they leave, Gomes, Ramirez, and Lindor will probably always represent the Tribe on Gold Glove lists.
We’ve talked about those other Gold Glove finalists over the years, but among the many sentences you could tell a 2013 version of yourself to cause some kind of existential crisis, “Carlos Santana is a Gold Glove candidate” would be one of the most difficult to believe.
