CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When baserunners attempt to steal on Yan Gomes, they assume all of the risks inherent with gamble.
Rockies outfielder Gerrardo Parra found that out Tuesday when he ran on Gomes in the third inning.
With Trevor Story at the plate, Parra took off for second. Gomes's throw arrived at the bag well ahead of Parra, who pulled up lame a few steps in front of Jason Kipnis, who was waiting to apply the tag.
Kipnis never got the chance to tag Parra out. Parra kept running instead of sliding into the base, surrendering in obvious pain.
