Who replaces Jason Kipnis at second base? Cleveland Indians study options

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Indians need a second baseman and have about three weeks to find one before the season opens April 3 against the Texas Rangers.

Manager Terry Francona said Sunday that Jason Kipnis will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder. It means Kipnis almost certainly will open the season on the disabled list.

The Indians have options in camp or they could go out and acquire a second baseman. An acquisition like that, however, would suggest Kipnis was going to be out longer than anticipated.
