CLEVELAND: The Indians’ defense in the second half of the season is one of the main reasons they’re still in the hunt for a wild card spot, but it failed them on Saturday night in a 4-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field.
The Indians gave away a few runs and struggled offensively all game, trailing 4-1 for much of the night. But they made it a game in the bottom of the ninth.
Facing White Sox closer David Robertson, Yan Gomes doubled and Chris Johnson hit a mammoth two-run home run to center field — his first with the Indians — to cut the lead to 4-3.
