The Indians released right-hander Tommy Hunter on Thursday. The nine-year veteran is now a free agent.
Hunter made 21 relief appearances for the Indians this season, going 2-2 with a 3.74 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old is on the disabled list, his second stint this year.
Hunter last pitched on July 9, before suffering a non-displaced fracture in his back in an injury that occurred during the All-Star break. Hunter slipped while carrying his son on the stairs at home.
