CLEVELAND – Indians All-Star MVP Shane Bieber and the American League starter from that same game Justin Verlander went at it toe-to-toe Tuesday night in an old fashioned pitchers duel at Progressive Field.
The outcome was a 2-0 decision won by Verlander and the Astros, as the Indians drop their second straight and fall to 62-44 on the season, 32-22 at home.
Verlander was masterful, striking out 13 Indians batters in seven innings, allowing just two hits.
Bieber held his own, striking out eight over seven innings, allowing a pair of runs in the 5th on a total of nine hits to drop to 10-4 on the year.
