CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Tyvis Powell was scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Friday's series opener between the Indians and White Sox.
Then, the Browns waived the safety.
Powell, a native of Bedford, Ohio, played for Urban Meyer at Ohio State before going undrafted. He latched on with the Seattle Seahawks last season -- he appeared in eight games -- before the Browns scooped him up in early February.
The Indians coordinated the first-pitch plans with Powell, his agent and Ohio State. One source said it's possible that the Browns were not aware of Powell's Friday night plans until Friday.
