Twins 4, Indians 2: Early mistakes, late home runs doom Indians in loss to Twins

CLEVELAND: The Indians spent most of the day chipping away at an early deficit that was for the most part of their own doing but ultimately fell short in a 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon at Progressive Field.

The Indians (39-34) managed to erase some early self-inflicted wounds but couldn’t stave off a late charge by the Twins, who went to work against the bullpen.

Tied 2-2 in the eighth, the Indians turned to Cody Allen (0-3). Allen tried to go high-and-inside to Brian Dozier, the first batter he faced. Dozier turned on the pitch and drove it to the Home Run Porch in left field, delivering the decisive blow and giving the Indians their second consecutive loss.
