Triston McKenzie’s Incredible Debut

After just 60 games in the minor leagues, 23-year-old Triston McKenzie made his MLB debut for the Tribe on Saturday night, holding the Tigers to just one run while striking out 10.

Let’s take a look at some of the best notes from one of the most brilliant debuts in team history.

  • McKenzie joined Luis Tiant as the only pitchers in franchise history to strike out 10 or more in their debut. Tiant struck out 11 batters while shutting out the Yankees in 1964. New York would go on to win the pennant that year, so it’s pretty safe to call Tiant’s the greatest debut in team history.
