Tribe Pick Up Jhoulys Chacin from Rockies; DFA Marcum

There was some business done today heading into their series against the White Sox.

The Indians signed former Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin to a minor-league deal today. They also designated Shaun Marcum for assignment after his lone appearance on Sunday. They also promoted catcher Brett Hayes from Columbus to give Roberto Perez an occasional breather.

Chacin has “reclamation project” written all over him. Coming off a shoulder injury last season, he was released by the Rockies after a rough spring in which he gave up seven runs off of 16 hits. The Indians are banking on 2013’s version of Chacin, who turned in a solid year with a 3.
