Less than 24 hours after a Motor City meltdown that defied description, the Cleveland Indians decided to give their fans’ blood pressure a break with a drama-deficient 6-0 afternoon victory over the Detroit Tigers, avoiding the dreaded three-game sweep.
Trevor Bauer rebounded from a rough start against Kansas City to hold the Tigers to four hits scattered over eight innings pitched, with ten strikeouts and no walks. He didn’t even allow a baserunner until Niko Goodrum singled to start the 5th.
The Tribe struck first, as they’ve done all series long, but actually managed to build on that lead and even hold it, which are two things they’ve struggled to do in this series.
