Thome’s Number Is Retired…And There Was A Game

I don’t have a lot of positive things to say about the Indians’ 4-2 loss to Baltimore on Saturday afternoon. Alex Cobb completely baffled the Tribe’s offense for much of the game. As an example of his dominance, at the end of the second inning Cobb had thrown just 16 pitches. Adam Plutko gave up a three-run bomb to Jonathan Villar, and Neil Ramirez later surrendered a solo shot to Cedric Mullins to give the Orioles a lead they would not relinquish.

As for the offense, Michael Brantley and Francisco Lindor contributed the Indians’ two RBI in the sixth inning, and for a minute it looked like the Tribe may start to chip their way back.
