The Cavaliers' 2016 NBA championship banner, rings, night belongs to all Clevelanders

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The banner rose from a metal cast, golden, miniature Cleveland skyline.

It said 2016 NBA Champions.

Nothing else was needed to be said.

LeBron James wiped away tears. He touched the banner before it descended into the sky.

The soldout, delirious crowd of 20,562 serenaded him with MVP chants.

This was your banner night, you ring ceremony, Cleveland. It was the Cavs who raised the flag to the rafters, who received the 6.5 carat rings, with over 400 diamonds from Kay Jewelers.

But the whole thing, from the night they won in Oakland on June 19, to the emotional, final celebration before starting the 2016-17 season against the Knicks, was never just about them.
