Six-run innings cause win and loss for Lynchburg and Lake County

After two consecutive pitcher of the week honors for the Carolina League, Justin Garza finally gave up his first runs yesterday, allowing three runs on six hits in 4.1 innings while striking out four and walking one.

Thankfully, the bullpen was able to pick Garza up as Ben Krauth tossed three scoreless, hitless innings of relief with six strikeouts and Kieren Lovegrove threw 1.2 perfect innings with four strikeouts.

Lynchburg’s offense erupted for six runs in the third inning with the big hit being a bases-clearing three-run triple by Luke Wakamatsu.

Jodd Carter and Mitch Longo both had multi-hit games for the Hillcats, with Carter blasting his second home run of the season in the sixth inning.
