CLEVELAND -- On Monday morning, the Blue Jays are expected to announce that they will name Mark Shapiro their new team president at the conclusion of this season, when current president and CEO Paul Beeston plans to retire, MLB.com has confirmed.
With Shapiro out in Cleveland after 24 years, Tribe owner and CEO Paul Dolan likely will absorb the team's presidential responsibilities at least for the time being. Neither club has confirmed the reports.
As of now, Shapiro's departure to Toronto does not appear to impact the roles of Indians general manager Chris Antonetti or manager Terry Francona.
