CLEVELAND: The Indians are inching closer toward the postseason and possibly making a run toward the World Series, and should they find success in October, it’ll be without two of the leaders in the clubhouse and mainstays in the lineup.
Just after the trade deadline last season, which followed a losing streak that might have played a role in altering the club’s direction and then multiple trades, the Indians’ brass held a meeting with four players to determine what kind of club they wanted to be. That meeting included starting pitcher Corey Kluber, second basemen Jason Kipnis, outfielder Michael Brantley and catcher Yan Gomes.
