Rookie Cody Anderson has stellar major-league debut

CLEVELAND: Rookie starting pitcher Cody Anderson made his major-league debut Sunday, throwing 7u2154 scoreless innings in the Indians’ 1-0 walk-off win against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.

He’s the next in line for a chance to be the Indians’ fifth starter, following TJ House, Bruce Chen and Shaun Marcum. The Indians’ rotation 1-through-4 is as set as any team in baseball, with Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Trevor Bauer and Danny Salazar locking down those spots.

But as Anderson now gets his opportunity, the team doesn’t feel a need to put a focus on “settling” the fifth spot in the rotation.
