CLEVELAND, Ohio – Carlos Carrasco, if everything goes according to plan, will have his next start pushed back by two days until Tuesday against the Reds at Great America Ballpark in Cincinnati.
Carrasco left Monday’s start against the Rays after 3 2/3 innings with tightness in his left pectoral muscle.
“The idea is to give him two days of being in the training room,” said manager Terry Francona. “Then he’ll start his five-day cycle to pitching. That puts him on schedule to start the second game in Cincinnati (Tuesday). We’re backing him up two days.”
Carrasco, in his shortest start of the year, allowed five runs on six hits Monday.
