Longtime Cleveland Indians shortstop Omar Vizquel will be honored as part of the 2016 Latino Baseball Hall of Fame class today in LaRomana, Dominican Republic. Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez, Orlando Hernández, Edgar Renteria, Sammy Sosa, and Jesse Orosco will be inducted alongside Vizquel as the "modern era" inductees.
Omar spent the majority of his 24-year career on the Indians, anchoring the dynamic infield of the exciting, American League pennant-winning teams of the ‘90s. Although he was consistently very good over his career, Omar lacked any kind of significant peak that would help him make a case for the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
