Here’s to a great week full of holiday cheer!
From Paul Hoynes:
Mike Freeman, who did a good job last season as manager Terry Francona’s utility man, will get a chance to keep his job with the Indians.
Freeman on Sunday accepted his outright assignment to Class AAA Columbus and was invited to spring training in February in Goodyear, Ariz. Freeman, 32, was designated for assignment on Dec. 15 when the Indians traded Corey Kluber to Texas for outfielder Delino DeShields and right-hander Emmanuel Clase.
The left-handed hitting Freeman cleared waivers and the Indians outrighted him to Columbus.
