The Guardians’ hit sequencing was off, they made some sloppy defensive plays, Tanner Bibee ran out of gas in the sixth, and the bullpen looked mortal for once. All of that added up to a 4-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals.
All season, the Guardians have defended well, hit well with runners in scoring position and been lights out in relief pitching. When these factors aren’t consistnetly present, it’ll be tougher for the team to win games against good teams, as the Royals appear to be. It was a disappointing way to end another good homestand, but the Guardians seem to be a team that will turn the page quickly.
