The Guardians managed to escape the opening game against the Cubs with a 9-8 win thanks to the heroic efforts of Jhonkensy Noel, Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Pedro Avila and Emmanuel Clase.
Scott Barlow and Nick Sandlin made things a lot closer than they needed to be, and Tim Herrin's control continues to be shaky as well. Since returning from the IL on July 4th, Sandlin has a 6.40 FIP. Barlow has a 5.09 FIP in the same time period.
