The Guardians need starting pitching.
This is why they signed Matthew Boyd a couple months ago even though he was not yet healthy enough to pitch. After a few starts in the minors that got progressively better, he was called on to pitch a MLB game last night.
And oddly, all this went well.
Boyd allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5.1 innings. The Guardian bullpen allowed 0 runs. This meant that a squeeze and solo home run were enough to win 2-1.
