ARLINGTON -- Right-hander Shaun Marcum will take over the No. 5 spot in the Indians rotation and start Wednesday against the White Sox.
Marcum is 4-0 with a 1.36 ERA in five starts with Triple-A Columbus since being designated for assignment April 14. He will be replacing left-hander Bruce Chen, who was designated for assignment Saturday after two subpar starts. Marcum will join the team in Chicago on Tuesday night before pitching the following day.
The Indians purchased Marcum's contract April 12, when he allowed one run on three hits over the final five innings of an 8-5 loss to the Tigers.
