Leonys Martin receiving treatment for undisclosed illness at Cleveland Clinic

Outfielder Leonys Martin has played just six games with the Cleveland Indians since coming over at the trade deadline. But right now, that’s not what’s important.

Martin has been out since August 8 and was placed on the disabled list yesterday with an undisclosed medical condition. Initially, Martin had what Terry Francona called “intestinal turmoil” when he was scratched from his August 9 start, but it appears to be worse than an upset stomach as he’s now receiving treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.

Francona spoke to the media prior to Friday’s game against the White Sox and asked everyone to keep Martin and his family in their thoughts:

We have to respect what the family wishes so we are.
