Lemons to lemonade: What we learned Monday from Cleveland Indians' split-squad defeats

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Eight things we learned Monday as the Indians dropped split-squad games to Milwaukee and San Francisco, 14-4 and 3-2, respectively.

1. When things go wrong that's good.

Ceci Clark, one of the Indians performance/mental skills coaches, met with the team recently. Her presentation dealt with this theme - when things go wrong that's good.

"It means we can come back, and learn from it and get better from it," said pitching coach Mickey Callaway.

The Indians' pitchers will see if it can turn those words into actions after they allowed 14 runs on 15 hits and 14 walks against Milwaukee.
