Kluber makes history with 8 K's in 1st 3 frames

Kluber, who struck out more than a batter per inning during the regular season, passed Bob Gibson, Orlando Hernandez and Randy Johnson -- all of whom fanned seven -- for the most strikeouts through three innings of a Series game. In doing so, he put himself on pace to approach some even headier numbers. The last pitcher to fan more than 10 in a World Series contest was Johnson, with 11 in 2001 Game 2. The overall Series record is 17, which Gibson set in 1968 Game 1.

Through three innings, Kluber had at least eclipsed Cleveland's franchise record of seven strikeouts in a World Series game, which Jaret Wright (1997) and Orel Hershiser (1995) shared.
