CLEVELAND -- Jason Kipnis wanted to make something clear on Monday afternoon. When the Indians' second baseman spoke about accountability within the team after Sunday's loss against the White Sox, Kipnis was in no way being critical of manager Terry Francona.
Kipnis said he meant that it is up to the players to hold each other accountable.
"That comment had nothing with Tito," Kipnis said before Monday's game against the Royals. "Tito is our manager -- he's not a babysitter. When I talk about holding [people] accountable, that's strictly a players-holding-other-players accountable [thing]. We've got a bunch of young adults who are supposed to be treated like men.
