DETROIT -- A stalemate in the Motor City ended with a powerful swing from Jason Kipnis, who has been steadily regaining his form in the batter's box in recent weeks.
In a 4-1 victory over the Tigers on Friday night at Comerica Park, Kipnis made Trevor Bauer's stellar start hold up with a critical home run in the ninth inning. Cleveland was down to its last out in the frame, but the second baseman drilled a pitch from Detroit righty Shane Greene out to right-center field for a go-ahead, three-run home run.
