Kent State pitcher Eric Lauer preparing for MLB Draft with possible first-round tag

Tom Glavine isn’t normally a name that gets thrown around Northeast Ohio with much positivity, he being one of the key pieces to that superb Atlanta Braves rotation that took down the Indians in the 1995 World Series.

But for the past few years, and especially this past season, Kent State baseball coach Jeff Duncan has watched a Glavine-esque pitcher emerge as one of the top collegiate pitchers in the country.

That would be junior starting pitcher Eric Lauer, KSU’s prized left-hander who could be on the verge of commanding a first-round selection in Thursday’s Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
