Over the past few seasons I’ve gone to great lengths to defend Josh Tomlin. I repeated over and over and over that while most teams have a revolving door of terrible No. 5 starters, the Indians were able to rely on Tomlin to go out there every fifth day and give them a solid six innings while holding the other team to three or four runs. It wasn’t spectacular, but he consistently ate up innings and usually kept the score close.
But I’m ready to throw in the towel (at least for right now).
This isn’t an emotional decision, like so many fans reactions to Tomlin when he has a bad outing.
