Josh Tomlin goes above and beyond Thursday in Cleveland Indians' 5-4 loss to Angels

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Seven things we learned Thursday before, during and after the Indians' 5-4 Cactus League loss to the Angels at Goodyear Ballpark.

1. He pitched too well.

Josh Tomlin, in his first start since Game 6 of the World Series, pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings against the Angels. He struck out one and allowed three hits.

"He was only supposed to throw three innings, but he only threw 25 pitches," said manager Terry Francona, "so we sent him out for 10 more in the fourth inning.
