The Indians activated reliever Joba Chamberlain from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday afternoon prior to their game against the Mariners at Safeco Field. To make room, the club optioned right-hander Cody Anderson to Triple-A.
Cleveland originally intended to activate Chamberlain on Monday before the start of the four-game series, but the team had to alter its plans after right-hander Danny Salazar had to skip a turn in the rotation due to shoulder fatigue.
Anderson was called up to make a spot start on Tuesday and allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings in a 7-1 loss that snapped a six-game win streak for Cleveland.
