CLEVELAND: Jim Thome walked around Cleveland recently with his 7-year-old son, Landon, who’s already started to take after his dad.
He plays third base, as Thome did early in his career. He hits left-handed but throws right-handed. He’s started to hold his bat outward before the pitch, just as Thome famously did.
And as the two walked around the ballpark, Landon was able to physically see his dad’s legacy, in shining bronze, as they came up on Thome’s statue behind right-center field, across from Bob Feller’s statue.
Thome and several other members of the 1995 Indians returned to Cleveland last weekend, as the organization honored their achievements on their 20th anniversary.
