CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis reached out to fans through his Instagram account Thursday after losing his favorite shin guard, a discontinued item from Easton that he has worn since his college playing days.
And in typical Tribe fan fashion, the response was overwhelmingly successful.
Kipnis posted the request Thursday and received more than 5,000 likes on his post. He followed that up Friday with another post thanking fans and relaying the message that somebody had come through with a replacement for his missing guard.
The two-time All-Star had offered tickets, memorabilia and even autographed Francisco Lindor gear to the follower who produced a replacement.
