The Indians optioned starting pitcher TJ House to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, taking his name out of the competition for the No. 5 spot in the Opening Day starting rotation.
But at least he’ll be leaving major league camp with a mostly positive report.
While House will start the season in the minor leagues, his time in camp was as much about him returning to the mound and re-asserting himself as a viable option for the Indians as it was about actually making the major league squad. In this way, just getting back to throwing in Cactus League games made for a successful spring.
