Indians Slugger Edwin Encarnacion Okay After Getting Hit on Hand by Pitch

CLEVELAND – The Indians had a scary moment in the 8th inning of Sunday’s 5-2 win over the Yankees, as they watched as 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion was smacked on the hand by a pitch from New York relief pitcher Chad Green.

Encarnacion, who had hit a two-run homer earlier in the win, grimaced in pain and put his hands on his knees as he tried to shake it off.

Erik Gonzlaez came into the game to pinch-run for him, and after the game manager Terry Francona said that thankfully tests came back indicating no major issues for Encarnacion.
