CLEVELAND: The Indians on Tuesday announced that Chris Antonetti, Mike Chernoff and Derek Falvey were all being promoted within the Baseball Operations Department.
Antonetti, 41, is being named President of Baseball Operations. Mike Chernoff, 34, will take his place as General Manager and Derek Falvey, 32, will move from his post of Director of Baseball Operations to Assistant General Manager.
The series of promotions, which began with former Team President Mark Shapiro taking a similar position with the Toronto Blue Jays, will not necessarily change the Indians’ baseball decision-making hierarchy. Antonetti doesn’t see his new title as a change in his role.
