The off-season task of improving in-season kicked off today as the front office shook things up.
With Mark Shapiro now leading the charge in Toronto, the Indians appointed Chris Antonetti as President of Baseball Operations. Mike Chernoff will handle GM duties, while Derek Falvey will serve as Chernoff’s assistant.
However, and admittedly curiously, Antonetti will continue much of the GM responsibilities, apparently allowing both Chernoff and Falvey some time to grow into their new positions. It’s easy to wonder if the Indians’ brass was somewhat unprepared for Shapiro’s exit with Antonetti pulling double-duty for the short-term at least.
