Indians open Day 2 with infielder Mathias

CLEVELAND -- After focusing on pitching with their first three selections, the Indians opened up the second day of the First-Year Player Draft by grabbing second baseman Mark Mathias out of California Polytechnic State University.

The Indians picked Mathias in the third round with the Draft's 93rd overall selection. On Monday night, Cleveland used its top three picks on lefty Brady Aiken (No. 17 in the first round), righty Triston McKenzie (No. 42 in the Competitive Balance A round) and lefty Juan Hillman (No. 59 in the second round).
