Indians notebook: Yan Gomes finds his power stroke; Indians draft ambidextrous pitcher; Zach Walters to find playing time with offense, versatility

CLEVELAND: Indians catcher Yan Gomes announced his swing was back to form Tuesday night by drilling not one but two home runs, his first two of the season, in the Indians’ 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners.

He hit them off different pitchers and hit them to nearly the same spot. The first home run was estimated at 411 feet, the second at 412 feet, and the same guy ended up with both baseballs. In the process, Gomes extended his hitting streak to five games, though the power was a good sign in itself.

Gomes didn’t get off to the start he wanted to when he returned from the disabled list from a sprained knee sustained April 11.
