Indians notebook: Relief pitchers Kyle Crockett, Jeff Manship called up; Zach Walters demoted, Shaun Marcum designated for assignment; Michael Bourn suspended

CLEVELAND: The Indians made a couple of moves Thursday to bolster a bullpen in need of extra arms following the 17-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Jeff Manship, 30, and Kyle Crockett, 23, have each been called up from Triple-A Columbus. Manship is 0-2 with a 1.99 ERA in Triple-A this season in 23 appearances. Right-handed hitters are batting just .197 against him. Crockett struggled when he was first sent down to Triple-A on April 11 but has been excellent recently, posting a 1.04 ERA and nine strikeouts in his past 8u2154 innings pitched.

“When he [Crockett] first got down there, by his own admission he kind of got roughed up — it’s probably the first time its ever happened — and [he] kind of second guessed some things and tried to do some things different, but he’s working back towards what he does.
