DETROIT: The Indians have been playing much better against left-handed starting pitchers than they were earlier this season, but it’s been an unexpected culprit behind the reasoning for it.
They started the season just 1-7 against left-handed starters but have turned that around and now hold an 11-3 record against lefties entering Friday.
It hasn’t been one of the right-handers leading the charge as much as it’s been lefty Brandon Moss, who’s picked up his play against left-handed starters. He’s hit for more power against right-handed pitchers (eight of his 10 home runs), which is to be expected.
